"IFPA Ignores the Reality that Abortion Ends the Life on an Unborn Child"
Responding to reports that the European Court of Human Rights has agreed to hear a challenge by three Irish women over Ireland's abortion laws, a spokesman for the Pro-Life Campaign said the “Irish Family Planning Association (IFPA) sponsored-cases before European Court of Human Rights (ECHR) ignore the reality that induced abortion ends the life of an innocent unborn child”.
The spokesman continued: “The IFPA is also totally out of step with the most recent compelling evidence showing the long-term negative effects of abortion for women. The Government has a duty to defend Ireland's right to decide its own abortion laws against any interference from European courts.
The Government also needs to make clear to the ECHR that Ireland, without abortion, is consistently one of the safest countries in the world in which to be pregnant, safer than countries like Britain and the Netherlands, which allow abortion on demand.
Instead of seeking to have abortion imposed on this country, the IFPA should respect Ireland's pro-life ethos, particularly at a time when other countries are beginning to question their unrestricted abortion laws and the way such laws have gravely undermined basic respect for the dignity and preciousness of human life.” The IFPA is linked to the pro-abortion International Planned Parenthood Federation (IPPF).
